When you think of Church Membership, is the first thing that comes to your mind an old roll book like the picture?  At First Presbyterian Church (Punta Gorda, FL) we refer to our members as Covenant Partners.  Why?

Because membership is not just about adding your name to a roster. It’s about connecting with the people and the vision of the church; we are partners in this thing called the church. Being a Covenant Partner expresses your commitment to this spiritual family—a family that worships together, grows in faith together, shares the Good News together and serves one another.

How do I become a Covenant Partner of FPC?

There are four parts to becoming a Covenant Partner:

Part 1: Watch the three videos at your leisure. (See below)

Session 1 – The history of the church from the Apostles to the FPC

Session 2 – The beliefs of FPC

Session 3 – Your responsibilities as a Covenant Partner

Part 2: Have a meeting with the Pastor. Here we can go over any questions you may have about the videos or help clarify any beliefs that we have at FPC.  At that time, you will also turn in your Covenant Partner Application.

Part 3: Then meet with an Elder to share your testimony and get to know you a bit better.

Part 4: Last is the Celebration – during a Worship Service you will be presented to the rest of the congregation as part of the family, and if necessary be baptized.

You may also want to take advantage of other discipleship opportunities as they are offered during the year (Check the weekly bulletin and monthly newsletter for details):

Donuts and Doctrines – a weekly Bible study on Wednesday mornings

Women’s Bible Study – a bi-weekly Bible Study on Tuesday mornings

ESSENTIALS:  Discovering Spiritual Maturity for all. This class guides you through the essential beliefs every Christian needs to find success in their walk with Christ. Check church announcements for the next opportunity.

DISCOVERY: We want to help you realize what makes you so unique. Discovering Your Ministry seeks to help people discover how God has S.H.A.P.E.d (Spiritual gifts, Heart/passions, Abilities, Personality, Experiences) them for service. Check church announcements for the next opportunity.
