LIFE GROUPS
Our
Life Groups began after our church went through the 40 Days of Purpose study
program in 2005. Originally 8
groups were formed, meeting at different times on different days of the week. Most
of these groups stayed together
for 18 months. Strong friendships
developed and people wanted to remain in their original groups.
When
we moved into our new church in 2007 some groups did disband and we were down
to 6 groups. As of April 2008 we
now have four original groups with 35 people attending, some once a month,
others every other week. It is difficult to expand an on-going group with new
people so we would like to begin a couple of new groups. They could begin now or sometime
in the
fall. I would like to see a group
begin a Friday morning Bible study as we had for years, and also a life group
for the folks over by the Ventura Lakes area. Perhaps a life group for those people who come from the
Englewood or Rotunda areas could be started in the fall.
In
addition to these groups we also have the Wonderful Wednesday study groups with
about 30 people attending. Read
more about this special summer program in the monthly newsletter, The Messenger.
Think
about the part you might play in this important part of our church program. We need host homes and a
group facilitator or study leader.
These may be shared responsibilities as they are with the groups already
formed. People have been blessed
by this program and have formed lasting friendships.
Call
the church and talk with Pastor Steve Mock or Gail Thornton if you wish to be
part of a life group now or in the near future. Or you may call me, Connie Johansen, at any time on my cell
at 941-286-9923, which reaches me in MA during the summer. Don't hesitate to call.
Have
a wonderful summer and think about how you can be a disciple for Jesus.
