The church library has been renamed as of
March 1, 2008. It will now be known as the
DR. NANCY MAHUSAY MEMORIAL LIBRARY
Its original name was the Ellen Morris
Memorial Library, after Nancy's Mother, because most of the non-fiction books
before hurricane Charlie came from Ellen Morris' personal collection.
Sisters Connie Johansen and Linda Insley, will resume taking care of the
library which has been restored after Hurricane Charley thanks to the untiring
effort of Nancy. We decided it was only fitting to rename the library
after Nancy Mahusay. Funds were donated by family members to purchase a
new plaque and additional needed supplies. We will be adding a few more
books and tapes soon from Nancy's collection.
The largest number of books is in the
Christian Fiction section because it is the most frequently checked out.
A great number of these have been donated by Gail Thornton. The
second largest is the Christian Living section under #248. This section
includes a number of sub themes.
The card catalog file contains
cross-referenced cards, alphabetically filed. This is the best way to
find exactly what you are looking for.
The 2008 inventory has not been completed but
will be soon. Books will be removed for wear and tear, and some for lack
of interest.
If you have a book you would like to donate,
simply place it in the "Returned Books" box and we will retrieve
it. Please note that not all donated material will be deemed suitable for
our church library. Books not accepted will be donated to other
appropriate libraries.
Your librarians, Connie Johansen and Linda Insley.
